Business Development Associate

SYDNEY-BASED, GLOBAL ROLE

Who we are & what we do

 

There are 40 million people trapped in modern slavery and forced to work in dehumanizing conditions. 10 million of them are children. Despite years of global concern and efforts to address the problem, there has been little if any improvement.

SlaveCheck was founded in 2018 specifically to address this ‘system-level’ problem and to address the shortcomings in current global approaches to eliminating modern slavery that have been identified by NGOs, researchers and social development experts.

 

We’ve designed and built a unique ‘collective intelligence’ solution consisting of people + process + technology, powered by a ‘profit-for-purpose’ business model.

Our Purpose: To lead, coordinate and manage the systematic elimination of modern slavery.

What’s the job all about?

Working alongside the Founder, you’re basically going to be in the cockpit of a tech start-up. That doesn’t suit everyone. It requires a special mindset. We can’t write down exactly what you’ll be doing because it’s ‘whatever the business requires’ which evolves day to day, as opportunities emerge and as the business expands. Building a technology business from start-up is - by definition – a multi-disciplinary exercise spanning strategy & planning; sales & marketing; tech design, dev, testing, training; onboarding and managing customers; liaising with lawyers, accountants and other advisers; business & financial management; recruitment and people management. As new people join our team, you’ll work with them to share your knowledge and get them up the learning curve ASAP.

What you’ll likely need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in something

  • Demonstrated success in something you’re passionate about

  • The right reasons to succeed and the energy, persistence, tenacity and resilience to make it happen

  • A ‘can do’ attitude and the smarts and capacity to find a way to get things done

  • High EQ and a highly-effective communicator: written, spoken, phone, meetings, presentations

  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the ‘big picture’

  • Being comfortable outside your comfort zone, learning new things, taking on new challenges

  • A good sense of humour
